Qs and As about LegalRSS.uk (Updated) and Crosselerator

12/09/2017

How long does it take to learn the system?

Normally about 30 minutes, but you'll get quicker doing tasks as you go. When you are up to speed a newsletter will take about a minute to do. There's a 'how to do it' video for every function.

We're Changing Our Website to https. Is that OK?

Yes. Our delivery is https also..and, when you rebuild your website, there will be NO data transfer time – everything will stay on your own cloud, so a quick chanage of your style sheet and you are good to go.

How much does it cost?

From £169+VAT per month. One client instruction a year will pay for it.

How many articles do you provide?

Never fewer than 100 per month, normally many more…split over the whole range of legal practice. The categories you choose are delivered automatically to your website. You take the categories that suit your practice and can use all or just some of the content provided, mixing it with your own.

We have written exclusively for UK law firms for more than 15 years.

How long does it take to set up all the newsfeeds and deploy the system?

Newsfeeds take about 30 seconds each to set up. Deploying them on the various pages of your site should take your webmaster between 6 and 30 minutes a page. After that is done you'll never need to spend time on it again.

What can we do with it?

Manage

  • content on all your websites (and content sharing with other firms/organisations)
  • social media (via Buffer or directly to Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook)
  • e-newsletters (via Campaign Monitor integration)
  • data collection
  • marketing tools such as snip.ly and bit.ly
  • personalisation of content and co-branding
  • mobile websites

and much more. These processes are heavily automated , saving your marketers a huge amount of time.

Can we add our own material?

YES: as much as you like, including pictures, videos – you name it. No-one else ever has access to your material: all your data is protected.

How many pictures and how many articles are in the library?

More than 2,000 pictures (unique to us) and about 18,000 law-realted articles (and both are growing). All are our copyright and available to you to use while you are subscribed and fully searchable.

For how long to we have to sign up?

It is a rolling monthly arrangement – NO long term commitment.

We have several websites. Do we need more subscriptions?

No, you can control web content from any number of sites from a single control panel. You can brand them all differently too if you want: a small charge applies.

How long does doing the social networking take?

One mouse click – networking is available for both your content items and e-newsletters.

What about SEO?

The benefit for SEO purposes is small – the benefits from having regular targeted communications across email/social and also a content-rich, dynamic website to visit are massive…and enables targeted and systematic marketing. Want SEO? Add words4business content and tailor it…it is great for newsletters and magazines articles also.

We're doing things with other people – can we co-brand or share the content?

The LegalRSS system has co-branding capabilities that far exceed anything else in the market – and powerful targeting features. Co-branding is comprehensive and very flexible: you can co-brand newsfeeds, news categories..even mobile pages – automatically.

We want a mobile site. Can you do it?

LegalRSS allows you to create your own – as many as you want, and all automatically updated. They take about 15 minutes each to build and all have their own analytics and sophisticated co-branding. There's even a choice of styles!

We want to link our people to content. Can you do this?

Yep. It's easy. And if they leave, linking the new person in is easy too (for all the content).

We're an MDP. Can you provide other content?

We write only for law firms and (shortly) IPAs.

Can I have my own template?

Yes, that is an option.

We're thinking of changing our website? What's involved?

Almost nothing. The newsfeeds and data (including all your own article and images) are resident in the cloud. For a LegalRSS users changing your website means never having to remove and reload data. Turn a process that typically takes days into one that takes only minutes.

Who writes and edits your material?

Our content is written by a highly-qualified team which includes solicitors and accountants with specialist tax qualifications. We retain the services of the UK's leading firm of court reporters to ensure our clients are among the first to have commentary on important breaking legal decisions.

We devote far more resource to editing than is usual. Our editors are very highly qualified language nuts and are the key to the quality of our material.

Security

Servers

Our servers are hosted with Rackspace. Rackspace data centres are accredited to PCI DSS, ISO27001, and ISAE 3402 Type II standards, ensuring all sites and applications are secured by the best processes and technologies. We use https security to encrypt communications between user and server. Our servers use the Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) protocol.

Server OS security

The server used for hosting LegalRSS is configured with a server based firewall limiting access to only the required services. In addition we only use SSH with certificate based authentication to access the underlying operating system and access is limited to a small number of support staff. The server only runs the necessary services and any unnecessary service has been removed.

Application Security

All passwords are stored in the internal database encrypted using SHA512 encryption with a random salt (to ensure people with the same password are not encrypted the same). The application is based on Ruby on Rails which provides protection for cross site scripting and also all cross site request forgery and provides encrypted sessions. More details can be found here.

Log in for add admin functions is two-step and prevents keystroke mapping attack.

Cookies

The only cookies used are session cookies which are deleted at the end of each session.

GDPR

LegalRSS holds no sensitive data. Emails are held within Fusion Express (Campaign Monitor) , and LEGALRSS administrators have no access to your acount.

CROSSELERATOR

We use https security to encrypt communications between user and server. Data are held on a stand-alone physical server in the UK. All data held on the server are encrypted.
