I'm going to cut to the chase with this email. After speaking with Joe Reevy the week before last (before and after his fantastic presentation: "Marketing For Professionals Without Spending Megabucks", we concluded that there is a fantastic opportunity in the offing when it comes to establishing a content sharing network.
What is it about?
The essence of this is that we all create content for our own sites; the mileage of which is limited by our own distribution. Typically, you write an article, it gets sent out, some of your audience read it – and that's it. But what if your articles could do more?
In theory, by creating strategic partnerships we could create a very mutually beneficial outcomes by sharing each others' content. Essentially this would mean that content we're spending money on would go a lot further – for all concerned. It would also show that are part of a larger network of expertise which is relevant to our audience (but crucially, which doesn't compete!)
What would it look like?
Initially this might take the form of a loose agreement to distribute each others' material over social channels etc. If people are really interested and the idea really takes off it might take the form of a website (as Joe envisioned in his talk).
This could then act as a portal for top legal/business content in the North. The result would be increased traffic to websites, raised business profile, and (again) content giving you more "miles to the gallon", than if you were simply sharing it alone. Joe has advised that this would be very easy (and cheap) to setup!
Once the audience scales up – this could become profitable and self-sustaining as new contributors (who missed the boat now) are charged nominally for yearly circulation.
