This month’s legal news roundup seems to have a theme of ‘bigger is better’. Not only are the ‘Big4’ accountants flexing their (very big!) muscles but so are a variety of US firms, French firms and, at the other end of the scale a new trade association for those involved in the merger of law firms. So is big better? Well this month we are also told that email will be dead soon, and that however good AI is it also needs a human “in the loop”. So perhaps small, with its inevitable focus on bespoke personal service, has a role to play – it's much harder to fall victim to cyber crime/be replaced by a computer if you are actually speaking to the client face to face!
